LOC’s Please Take Note of 2013 Sanction Deadlines For the past several years we have used a December 31 deadline to sanction events to assure inclusion in the Regional Guide. This results in 85% of the sanctions being initiated between Christmas and New Year’s Day. This has created a burden on the volunteer who compiles all of the sanctions to develop the Guide and get it to the printer by the deadline. One of the major components is simply getting a count as to how many sanctions will be included in the guide. The other major component is then adding the content for each tournament. In an effort to spread out the work a little we are going to move the sanction deadline to December 15 starting in 2012. This does not mean that you need all of your content included. If you will simply initiate the sanction process by setting up the name and date of the tournament, that will allow for the correct number of events to be provided for in the Guide. Then between December 15th and January 10th you may go back in and edit your tournament to include all of the information you want to be in the guide. While we have moved the date up 15 days, we have also allowed an additional 10 days to fully complete. We understand that many of you need to wait to see what happens at the State meetings but feel this provides enough time after the meetings to get started. Also it would be greatly appreciated if you can sanction early and complete the update early to ease the workload compression for the volunteer who also has a real job. Thank you for your consideration of this request. Another tip is that each sanction is allocated a quarter of a page. So the more information you wish to be in the guide, the smaller the font will be.

It's actually time to start thinking about who, when, where, and what tournaments are going to take place in the Midwest. Jim Babcock has volunteered to lead us in putting together the next version of the regional guide, the summer bible to many of us. What do you need to do right now?

  • Step 1---Figure out when your club would like to host tournaments next year and then coordinate those dates with your state councilmen.
  • Step 2---Go online to sanction your tournament with USA-WS by Dec 15th.
    *****tournaments sanctioned online by Jan 1st will get into the regional guide, after that they will not*****
  • Step 3---Send the proper USA-WS sanction fees to USAwaterski
  • Step 4---Send the proper regional sanction fee to Tom Danford, 6850 South Lake Gage Drive, Angola, IN 46703
    • Traditional/Barefoot/Pro--$75
    • Show--$100

    Checks made out to AWSAmidwest Region.

  • Step 5---Make sure to proof your regional guide announcement with James Babcock by 1/31-if you make any changes after your proof make sure to contact Jim Babcock and let him know the exact changes.
  • Step 6---Make sure to figure out your officials and put them on your online sanction at least 3 weeks before your event so you get your sanction approval on time
  • Advertising will be sold for $50 for business card, $100 for 1/4 page, $200 for half page, $350 for full page, let us know if you or anyone you know is interested
