SELECTION CRITERIA FOR THE “MIDWEST JUNIOR ELITE TEAM”  approved 10-0 and is as follows.

The Midwest Junior Elite Team is selected annually at the Midwest Regional Championships and consists of 16 members (8 girls and 8 boys).  The team is selected from skiers in Boys/Girls 2-3 with one year eligibility remaining.  Selection is based on a formula that combines the NOPS score of the Midwest Regional Championships performance and the skier’s National Rankings Average as of the current Regional Championship.  Each score is weighted equally (50/50).

The first selection for each division shall be the Overall skier with the highest Overall NOPS score based on the above mentioned formula.  The second selection for each division shall be the skier who skis a minimum of two events with the highest two events NOPS scores.  The third selection shall be the skier with the highest single event NOPS score (S,T or J) using the above mentioned formula. The fourth selection shall be the next skier with the highest NOPS Overall score (S, T and J) that has not already been selected to the team.

*Jr. Team is going to Bennett’s June 15-20

*Changed P&P to reflect current Jr. Elite team which is 16 skiers not 12 plus 4 alternates.  Approved 10-0

*Changed P&P to award the scholarship that donates the highest money to go to the skier with the highest NOPS, and the rest down the line.  This was approved 10-0 and will be finalized each summer council meeting. Currently the Jeff McCullough award is higher than correct craft so pending any changes starting in 2009 the Jeff McCullough award will go to the highest NOPS and correct craft to the 2nd highest NOPS.
Alison Lindy won the Jeffrey McCullough Scholarship Award for $500 and Bryant Detty won the Correct Craft Award for $300 in 2008

*Darr suggested to ASWEF and USAwaterski to allow HQ Lake to be like okeheelee where you bring your own boat and pay to ski

*Passed 10-0 to clarify in the P&P that we want 10 drivers at Regional to include the chief driver

*Passed 10-0 to change P&P to reflect our new regional qualifications that was passed last summer which allows skiers to qualify for regionals by skiing the cut off average at a class C and above event after the cutoff date until regionals

*Council would like to see online balloting starting ASAP, maybe connect with regional registration

*AWSEF Scholarships are due 4/1/09- 5 Midwest skiers won last year

Regional Recommendations
*Level 8 officials who turn in Assistant judge sheet must still get signed off by regular or above judge and/or scorer
*Allow officials to drag 3rd event as level 7 for fast tracking
*Allow one of the appointed officials in a class C tournament to be an assistant judge in jump if they are a regular or senior in slalom and tricks if video jump is being used
*Suggest Tech Committee to make audio mandatory with the end course camera-is mandatory
*Suggest making the open division part of team trials or some method to get the pros at Nationals like the good ole days
*Suggest allowing OLR without officials checked off
*Allow option for HQ to accept fees so LOC’s don’t have to set up business paypal accounts and HQ sends LOC a check
